Sanitation in the Covid age.
A1 BioHazard a property restoration company which specializes in BioHazard cleanups. We have worked in crime scenes, trauma scenes, mold contamination, water damage, and severe hoarding situations. We had seen it all, and dealt with every complication, or so we thought.
We have permits to transport, store, and clean medical waste. We take Biohazard contaminants in red bags to a disposal site as soon as possible. At times we are required to store them in our facility until we are able to do so. The idea of potentially and knowingly bringing Coronavirus into my workspace is unnerving at times.
At one point in 2020 there was a PPE shortage due to an extremely high demand from the general public. Even as I write this a tear later there are still products that simply can’t be bought. We were fortunate enough to have a supply of everything we need in storage and to have the foresight to order more early on.
In the early days of covid around march we saw high numbers in our state. At that point we began to get calls to clean properties where confirmed cases had been, or sadly, where confirmed cases lead to a death at the property. As with crime scenes we don heavy PPE gear suits, gloves, respirators, and make our way into the scene. We set up Green, Yellow, Red zones to establish a cordon and keep contamination of clean areas.
We are also a common service provider to businesses who are looking to reopen. Particularly offices that closed early on and wish to reopen. Because staff have been working from home and because many members of leadership staff are older and more susceptible business owners need to make workers feel safe in order to return. We assist these offices with periodic decon services as well as consult them on covid safety measures like no touch features.
Cleaning and sanitation remains an extremely high priority. Everything now gets wiped down with bleach or other cleaners. PPE supplies have increased somewhat to meet demand. There is no doubt in many minds that new normal means there will be no going back to old normal. Whatever may come we will be here serving our community any way we can wearing a smile on our face and white jumpsuits.
